Foodmec seeks the best solutions for its customers from an international equipment offering

Oy WMA Invest Ab combines the equipment brokerage business of JTJ-Sales Oy and Oy Mesmec Ab, which it owns. The new company will operate under the name Foodmec Oy as of January 4, 2021.

– We want to offer our customers all our know-how to develop food industry processes. We will focus more resources on customer work. Both companies have long customer relationships that benefit from a common offering and experience, says Anders Asplund, new CEO of Foodmec Oy. He will also continue as Executive Vice President of Oy Mesmec Ab, founded in 1989, which will continue its operation focusing on its core competencies.

– The unification of Mesmec’s equipment brokerage and JTJ-Sales businesses is fully in line with the 2018 business acquisition strategy. Foodmec will work very closely with its sister company Mesmec, utilizing e.g. their strong design expertise as well as project services, Asplund sums up.

With the help of its extensive process expertise, Foodmec delivers equipment e.g. meat processing, ready-to-eat food, slaughterhouse and fish processing industries, bakeries and vegetable processing. The principals are well-known technology manufacturers whose equipment allows Foodmec to provide appropriate solutions to the customer’s need. The range covers the needs of the entire food industry production process.

Efficiency, quality assurance and safety require increasingly sophisticated technology. – For example, the requirements for identifying foreign objects are constantly growing. We want to make international process automation widely available to our customers, says Jan Isaksson, Business Director of Foodmec.

Foodmec’s offices will remain in Kokkola and, for the time being, in Helsinki. The staff will continue as former employees. – Our experts are professionals who have worked in the field for a long time, so sharing know-how creates added value for customers, says Anders Asplund.

– We, the former leaders of JTJ-Sales, will continue to support the new company in the merger phase say Jukka Alanen and Juha Riekkinen. We immediately realized that there would be clear business benefits from merging operations.

Both Alanen and Riekkinen are retiring in spring 2021.

We have ensured continuity by recruiting more staff. We have manage very well and three new people are starting to work for Foodmec. All are professionals well versed in the food industry and so we get a strong addition to our ranks! We are exited to take on new challenges with our team, says Isaksson.
